Colleen Slater
I first studied photography as a support subject as part of my Fine Art (painting) degree course in Newport, Wales. A documentary photography course had just been set up by the Magnum photographer, David Hurn. If digital photography had been in existence at the time, I would have given up painting there and then.
I haven’t painted for years, though I taught Art for five years at Mayfield College in Sussex. I didn’t start taking photographs seriously until I joined the camera club in November 2004 but I’m now having some success with work being shown in international exhibitions.
I work mainly as a Fine Art photographer and sell through Open House exhibitions, the ‘Cry of the Gulls’ gallery in Brighton and online through my website. I undertake commissions of different kinds and give lessons for photographers in Photoshop and Lightroom with a special low rate for club members.
