Frequently Asked Questions About Membership

When will my trial membership start and end?2019-07-28T17:20:40+01:00

Your trial starts from the day you sign up, for 2 weeks (14 days).

During this time you can attend 2 consecutive Tuesday evening club nights.

If you want to attend a New Members Group meeting, you need to make sure one is available during your trial membership. If you do this, you will maximise the benefits of your trial.

When are the New Members Group meetings?2019-07-28T17:23:55+01:00

New Members Group meetings are roughly once a month on a Thursday evening. If you want to attend one of these meetings during your trial, make sure your 2 week trial covers the date of the meeting you want to attend.

If you start your trail at the right time, you can attend 2 club nights and a new members group meeting. Great value for £6!

The date of the next New Members Group meeting is indicated to the right, or view the full calendar.

How many times can I sign up for a trial?2019-07-28T17:19:15+01:00

You can only sign up for a trial once.

What is the club’s privacy policy?2019-07-28T17:21:39+01:00

Our Privacy Policy can be viewed here.

How can I pay for my membership?2019-07-28T14:26:53+01:00

Payment for membership is directly online via this website.

When viewing the details of a membership, payment options are available below all the details. It’s possible to pay by Credit or Debit Card, or by using PayPal.

What are the benefits of attending a trial membership?2019-07-28T17:24:49+01:00
  • Depending when you join, you can attend two Tuesday club nights at the Hove Methodist Church, Main Hall and one Thursday evening New Members Group Meeting at the English Language Centre.
  • A trial gives you the chance to ‘Try before you Buy’, before buying a full membership.
  • The amount you pay for the trial is deducted from your membership fee when you join (providing you join within 8 weeks of starting your trial).
  • You get the chance to speak to committee members and other members when you attend.
Do you have club competitions?2019-07-28T17:25:15+01:00

We don’t have competitions as such, we have ‘critique’ events which are somewhat similar.

A critique event is where you submit your images in the same way as you would for a competition. The images are then appraised by a professional and awarded a level of either Gold, Silver, Bronze or Credit. Images are appraised on their own merits and all feedback is constructive.

You are not in direct competition with other members.

How do I claim back what I paid for a trial, when I sign up for membership?2019-07-27T21:29:48+01:00

Shortly after signing up, you will receive an email that contains a unique link.

You need to use the link to obtain your discount.

The link can only be used once and expires 8 weeks after you start your trial.

When I sign up for annual membership, when does it start and finish?2019-07-30T12:51:20+01:00

This depends on what type of membership you currently have, if any, as follows:

I do not currently have any type of membership

When you sign up for membership, your membership starts on the day you sign up and expires exactly one year later.

e.g. if you sign up on 5th Sept 2019, your membership expires on 4th Sept 2020.

I currently have or have recently had, a trial membership

When you sign up for membership, your membership starts on the day you sign up and expires exactly one year later.

e.g. if you sign up on 5th Sept 2019, your membership expires on 4th Sept 2020.

If you sign up for annual membership less than 8 weeks before your trial membership started, we deduct the amount of your trial membership fee, from your annual membership fee.

My current membership has not yet expired and I want to pay my renewal fee now

If you pay the renewal for your membership before the end of the current membership, your new membership will start when the current one expires. The benefit of doing this is there will not be any gaps in your membership.

e.g. If you have membership for 1st Sept 2018 until 31st August 2019 and you renew your membership on 15th August 2019, your new membership will not start until 1st September 2019.

I had membership but it ran out a few days/weeks ago

If your current membership expires and you do not renew your membership before it expires or immediately after you will not be able to attend the club until such time as you renew your membership. However, when you do renew, your membership will be a full year from the date you rejoin.

e.g. If you have membership for 1st Sept 2018 until 31st August 2019 and you don’t renew your membership until 1st October 2019, you will not be able to attend the club during Sept 2019. However your new membership will then run from 1st October 2019 until 30th September 2020.
